I am beyond excited to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year. I feel so incredibly blessed to have this opportunity and I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
A little bit about me: I started my career at St. Monica, MANY years ago, teaching 1st grade. It was literally my dream job! :) I taught 1st grade for six years, until the birth of my first son. I wanted to work part time, so I moved to Young Fives and then to Preschool. I taught preschool for 7 years, during that time my second son arrived and I was given the opportunity to fulfill the roles of preschool director and, briefly, assistant principal. In 2011 God called me to a new role and I became principal of Immaculate Conception Catholic School, in Three Rivers. After three years I decided my family needed me at home, so I left Immaculate Conception and “stayed home” for a year. (I’m not sure I was ever really HOME the entire year, but…) That spring I began subbing at St. Monica and the teaching bug bit me again! I was thrilled when teaching positions opened last year and felt blessed to be offered one of the kindergarten positions! I feel incredibly fortunate to be working along side Mrs. Dumont, the other kindergarten teacher, whom I worked with at Immaculate Conception. I absolutely feel that the Holy Spirit has guided every bit of my journey and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this school year!
Just like you, I am a St. Monica parent. I have two boys: Jacob is in 5th grade and Ryan is in 3nd grade. Our family lives in Kalamazoo and we are St. Monica Parishioners. Hopefully your kids and I will see each other and be able to do a secret wave at church on Sundays! :)
I look forward to working closely with you to make this an excellent school year!
